Oregon ITS Project Listing - July 2007 Edition Now Available

August 13, 2007

ITS Oregon member Gail Curtis (Oregon DOT) has begun to build a database of active ITS projects under development around the state. In this inaugural edition, the database includes projects from the Oregon Department of Transportation, TriMet, and the Portland Office of Transportation.

The information contained on each project, while not comprehensive, is intended to give you an overview and contact information, should you be interested in following-up.

We welcome additions, especially from other agencies around the state. We would also welcome feedback on what you think would help make this database interesting and useful to you. Comments can be sent to Gail Curtis.

August 1, 2007

In case you haven’t seen it, Bernie Wagenblast maintains a daily digest of ITS news from around the country and around the world. His archive can be found at:

I only found 3 entries from the month of June that I wanted to share here and they vary widely from one another.

PennDOT confident it can snarl traffic - I honestly thought this must have been run as a joke on April 1 but it is so well written that I can’t resist.

Narrows Bridge Officials Far From Transponder Signup Goal - For those of you following the introduction of electronic toll payment in the Northwest, this should be an article for you. For more information, including how the first day of tolling worked, see http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/GoodToGo/newsroom.htm

“Monopoly” Continues for Pennsylvania Company, Says Senator Hatch - This issue - how federal money has been made available for certain traveler information projects - is relevant for us here in Oregon. A good read for those of you interested in the politics of transportation funding.
